Welcome to Scarpology.Com, an online learning platform dedicated to music improvisation especially for stringed instruments tuned in perfect 5ths.

This site is based on and expands upon the book Scarpology: A Mapping of the Fretboard and Introductory Method of Improvisation for Mandolin and Other Instruments Tuned in Perfect Fifths.

The website was created 10 years after the book was written, to help build upon what started with the book. The website doesn’t intend to replace the book but rather to enhance and expand upon what is there, perhaps filling in gaps the book overlooks. As the website grows, it should offer more than the book could ever include and with the growth of online learning we can all learn and grow together, making our experience better than we could ever imagine in the beginning
